Building UX Content support in a Design Language System (DLS)
I was recruited to the Product side at Ultimate Software as the first and only UX Content Designer (in a company of over 14,000 employees). One of my first tasks was to build out the UX content support for the Ignite Design Language System (DLS) for UX Designers at Ultimate (and after the acquisition, UKG).
As the only UX Content Designer at Ultimate and UKG, I conducted weekly office hours twice a week to support various teams on a consulting basis, outside of the UX design projects I was specifically focused on. In addition, I created a UX Writer’s channel in Slack for design teams to crowdsource their knowledge and cross collaborate on UX content support, providing the opportunity for teams to speak written copy aloud and get immediate feedback.
Below are a sampling of screens showing guidance I created for specific content patterns in the Ignite Design Language System that are commonly found in a user experience, as well as guidance to help designers craft content that matches the voice and tone of Atlas, Ultimate’s brand persona.
