A user narrative that helps UX Designers build a better product

This is a user narrative that I created for Calendly and their Make Scheduling Easy initiative. This project entailed an overhaul of the Calendly product to add more intuitive features to ensure that larger enterprise organizations would feel more compelled to purchase Calendly licenses for their organizations.

The narrative, similar to a screenplay, is meant to serve as a living artifact for UX design. It’s a fictional, yet extremely realistic, organization, complete with a diverse organizational chart of characters. It showcases how various departments could use Calendly in their everyday work, and how the product features help organizations collaborate better and ultimately achieve revenue goals (in sales, recruiting, product initiatives, etc.)

A UX Design team is using this narrative to build out the prototype for the MSE initiative, which will ultimately become the next generation of Calendly.

I created a voiceover script from the narrative for a voiceover performer to narrate, in coordination with the UX design team’s working prototype (created from the narrative). This was presented at a company-wide event in Atlanta where enterprise clients were also in attendance. The feedback is that it feels very true to life—both the characters and organization felt realistic.
